According to the Palm Bay Police Department, officers responded to the park at approximately 6:30 p.m. on August 26, 2026, after receiving reports of a shooting. The incident occurred at the park located at 490 Koutnik Road.

When officers arrived, they reportedly found Cohen suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite the emergency response, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
