Larry Berry, Marks MS Death- Marks, Mississippi Man Dies After Search Following Fatal Shooting

MARKS, Miss. — Larry Berry, 35, has died after authorities reportedly found him critically wounded in a wooded area of Marks, Mississippi, following an extensive multi-agency search connected to a fatal shooting in the Memphis area.

According to the information provided, Memphis police responded at approximately 7:30 a.m. Thursday to a reported shooting at the Trinity Lakes Apartments in the 7900 block of Racquetball Lane near Germantown Parkway. Officers reportedly discovered a woman suffering from a gunshot wound, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Family members and friends identified the woman online as Tavia Jackson, who was also referred to in social-media posts as KePassionate “KP” Butler. An official identification was reportedly pending at the time of the initial investigation.

Investigators reportedly determined that the woman’s two children were missing and identified Berry as their father. Authorities said the children had allegedly been taken from the area in a black Mercedes sedan, prompting a large search involving law-enforcement agencies across Tennessee and Mississippi.

The children were later located safely at a residence in Robinsonville, Mississippi. Authorities reportedly confirmed that neither child was injured.

The search for Berry continued before he was located in a wooded area of Marks. According to the information provided, the Quitman County Sheriff’s Office transported him to a local hospital in critical condition after he was found suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Berry later died from his injuries.

Berry has also been identified in some reports as Martez Berry. Authorities were continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death, including the events leading to the reported gunshot wound and the timeline connecting the Mississippi discovery to the earlier fatal shooting.

The investigation involved multiple agencies, reportedly including the Memphis Police Department, Marks Police Department, Tunica County Sheriff’s Office, FBI, U.S. Marshals Service, Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, Tennessee Highway Patrol, and other local, state, and federal authorities.

The incident has generated concern among residents of the Trinity Lakes Apartments and the surrounding community. The fatal shooting reportedly occurred less than a day after another violent incident at the apartment complex involving the reported stabbing of a neighbor, adding to concerns among residents.

As investigators continue working to reconstruct the sequence of events, the families and loved ones connected to the tragedy are left facing profound grief. The circumstances surrounding Berry’s death and the fatal shooting remain part of an active investigation.

Further information is expected as authorities release verified findings. Until then, details surrounding the case should be treated according to official statements and confirmed reports rather than speculation.

Thoughts remain with the families, children, friends, and community members affected by this tragic series of events.
