A tragic crash in Lancaster County, South Carolina, has left families and the wider Rock Hill-area community mourning after two 18-year-old Lancaster residents were killed Wednesday evening.
According to reports published Thursday, the victims were identified as Jayleen Hinton and Kyreic Walker, both 18. The South Carolina Highway Patrol said the fatal single-vehicle collision occurred around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2026, on Pineview Drive.
Investigators said the two teenagers were traveling in a 2003 Saturn Ion heading east on Pineview Drive. The vehicle reportedly attempted to pass another vehicle before leaving the right side of the roadway and striking several trees. Both Hinton and Walker died at the scene, according to Lancaster County Coroner Karla Deese. No other injuries were reported in connection with the crash.
The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office. Officials had not immediately released additional information regarding which teenager was driving or whether either occupant was wearing a seat belt.
